Focus Group Invitation Future Service Delivery
Monday 19 March
We would like to invite patients and carers to participate in a focus group to discuss the emerging future service model for Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT). SACT is a term used to describe all medicines given for the treatment of cancer. Chemotherapy and biological therapy are two examples of SACT routinely used to treat cancer.
The group discussion will last 1 – 1.5 hours and refreshments will be provided. The focus groups will be held on:
Monday 19th March 2pm – 3.30pm Ayrshire Cancer Support – Ayr Centre 22 Wellington Square, Ayr
What is this about?
Over the past few years we have seen a steady increase in the number of cancer treatments being delivered in the West of Scotland. With a growing population, and as more and more cancer treatments become available, we anticipate that this will continue to rise. We have been looking at how we can redesign our current services across the West of Scotland to ensure we meet the needs of patients living with cancer in the future.
A strategic review has now been carried out to improve treatment for people with cancer in the West of Scotland. The Regional SACT Future Service Delivery Strategic Review has identified an emerging service model to ensure high quality, safe and sustainable Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT) services.
We are keen to directly involve people who have utilised SACT services, and their carers, to test and further develop the model via focus groups.
Taking part in the focus group
Taking part in one of the group sessions is entirely voluntary. Regardless of whether you chose to take part, it will not affect any current or future treatment or care that you receive. We will cover your expenses involved in attending the group discussion if required. All comments will be completely confidential and any personal information, for example, where you received treatment, will be removed.
The group will consist of approximately 8 - 10 patients and carers. During the meeting you will have the opportunity to talk about your opinions of the emerging service model for SACT. Your opinion on the model of care is important to us and will help to shape and develop the future service delivery of SACT.
If you would like to attend, please email email@example.com or telephone 0141 211 1145
